Morrisville Rotary Club

Members present at GMTCC Culinary Arts Café in Hyde Park at 11:30 AM :  Marcia Marble, Mary Metcalf, Mark Sinow, Sherry Lussier, Jason McArthur, Ted Lambert, Sharon Menard, Cindy Locke, Bruce Shields, and Becky Gonyea.

Guests:   Nancy Sinow, Miki Suzuki, Jeff (Union Bank),  Lucien Gravel- on GMTCC School Board, and Joe Ciccolo, Lamoille North Superintendent of Schools.

Becky: $2.00-Rotary Literacy Grant is approved for the Lamoille Family Center and Cindy.

The culinary students prepared a served a delicious luncheon for all to enjoy! GMTCC students, Courtney Stearns and Kylie Ferland gave a powerpoint presentation on a possible scholarship partnership between Morrisville Rotary and the Tech Center.  They covered the need by students for financial aid when they go onto further education, the five areas of study,  the 13 industry certifications that their graduating students may be eligible for as well as the 15 college credit opportunities available at GMTCC.  175 high school junior and seniors are currently enrolled from possible sending schools.  They noted that for every $1,000,000 investment in Vermont education,  30.8 jobs are created either directly or indirectly. Their presentation ended with ideas for mutual involvement between Rotary and GMTCC.  Following a question period, Rotarians will discuss this presentation at a future club meeting. (Add another $500.00 college scholarship to GMTCC next June? Students can participate at the Polar Splash on February 18^th. Students can sell 2012 Duck Race tickets and receive 50% of what they raise.)  A printed copy of the presentation is with the Club scrapbook.

Holiday Party: on December 2^nd with Social Hour at 6:00 PM, Dinner at 7:00 PM at the Stonegrill Conference Room. Club members are asked to provide at least two items with value under $100.00. Speak with Jason for if you have a higher value item for the live Auction with Auctioneer, Cindy Locke. Deliver the items or call Poulos Insurance (888-3143) or Jason at 888-6600 to let them know what you have.  We hope to have 50+ items with most offered in the raffle. Buckets and tickets to be provided.  Cost is $30.00 per person. Jason will provide the table gifts-view at the Party! Ted will emcee. Dr. Phil to ask Mary Collins and Don Tobey if they will donate their evening.
