Change Over:

Tim said that Patti had investigated Claire’s Restaurant and they are too expensive. Tim would still like to do it next Wednesday (June 9th) evening if he can find a location by the end of the week. There will not be a meeting on Tuesday, June 8th if we have change over next week. (NOTE: change over moved to July. There will be a meeting on June 8th)

Committee Business

Two requests for money.

  1. $250 for materials for the VFW ramp. Voted on last week, committee confirmation needed.
  2. $100 for Bernie Quinlan’s trip to Haiti. Jason made the motion, Marcia seconded it. She requested we wait until she needs it.

Committee Structure

Tim said that Rotary Clubs typically have five committees. We will probably reduce it to 3. More on that next week at change over.

The typical committees are (descriptions added into the minutes from the Rotary web site):

  1. Membership. This committee develops and implements a plan for recruiting and retaining club members.
  2. Public Relations. This committee develops and executes a plan to provide the public with information about Rotary and promote the club’s service projects and activities.
  3. Club Administration. This committee conducts all the club’s administrative activities. The club secretary and treasurer should be members of this committee.
  4. Service Projects. This committee plans and carries out educational, humanitarian, and vocational projects that address the needs of the club’s community and communities in other countries.
  5. The Rotary Foundation. This committee develops and carries out plans to support The Rotary Foundation through financial contributions and club participation in Foundation programs.

Tim reminded folks that he is going to work on recruitment with the help of the members by thinking about occupational fields. Last time it was architecture. Davis is going to contact Greg, but he is out of the country until next week.

This week we should think about the Trades and Professionals such as Accountants.

Duck Race. The race will be July 5th. Tickets are being printed. The June 29th meeting will be preparing the ducks for the race.

High School scholarships need to be sent to the schools. $1500 is set aside for this

Rudy said the trailer hitch and wheel need work before the July 4th event.

Marcia said she picked up the Rotary sign from the Stone Grill and had a new day/time sign made. It is ready to be hung at the Tegu Building.

District Conference. Deadline to register is June 4th. Remember the club will pay. Tim cannot attend. Marcia and Rudy are going one of the days.

Minutes submitted by Patti Coultas.
