Appreciation to DeNoia’s

Morrisville Rotarian Ted Lambert shared with Nick DeNoia a check as a token of Rotary’s appreciation for the efforts by Nick and his staff over the past ten years for the Coat Drive.  Easily 10,000 coats have been cleaned by his staff since Denise Trombley and Robin Cote started this program! This year’s staff is: Jennifer, Pam, Stephanie, Tiffany, Thelma, Shawn and David. Not present or working at the Stowe store are: Holly, Sandy, Marc, Jeff, and Matthew. Nick and his crew can take a well deserved lunch break!!

December 14, 2011 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was held at noon at the Stonegrill Restaurant in Morrisville. Members present: Jason McArthur, Cindy Locke, Sherry Lussier, Phil Chiaravalle, Mary Metcalf, Mark Sinow, Marcia Marble,  Tricia Follert, Sharon Menard, Tim Sargent, Rudy Loyola, Ted Lambert, Becky Gonyea, Gary Nolan, and Rich Jacobs.

Guest: Nancy Sinow.

Happy Dollars: Sherry-GMTCC Adult Ed. Is partnering with Hardwick Community; Dr. Phil and his wife are leaving for Modesto, CA on Saturday;  Rich has a Branch Administrator in his office; Mary had 70 people from Hazen Union High School at her home for their Holiday Party; Sharon’s brother is out of the hospital and staying with his uncle & Andrea moved into her own home this past weekend;  Cindy-Marcia’s strawberry jam is the best!; Tricia has a new to her shirt from Cindy.

Sad Dollars: Rich is sad that Phil will be away for the winter.

Fines: Tim fined Phil for putting in a Happy Dollar rather than Sad Dollar for leaving us for the winter.  2nd by Jason. Phil’s defense is that he will send back to VT the snow that is being received in Arizona.   Phil won. Tim spun a ‘0’ on the wheel.

Dictionary Project: Marci and Sharon have delivered to Craftsbury and the class was appreciative.  Tim and Jason have not yet delivered the dictionaries to Elmore.

PROGRAM:  Future speakers: Tim will prepare and circulate a calendar for Rotarians to sign up alphabetically to provide a speaker for one week.

ROTARY MINUTE:  The sharing of a Rotary Fact is also going alphabetically. Mary Metcalf is next week.

Bill Hogan is home in Cambridge and recuperating.

POLAR SPLASH: Cindy reported that Mark Follert will be asked to snowplow/blow the parking areas and to the beach house and lake.  NO parking will be allowed along Route 12-Gary and Sharon. Discussion that dark blue t-shirts may be offered as fundraising prize. Banners and posters need to be refreshed.  Towels and head bands will be given to all participants. News releases need to be prepared. Additional sponsor businesses are being solicited: $100.00 charge to list name; $200 to have name, logo, and email link to own website. Costume judging by three to be by the hole.  NEXT meeting: Jan. 5th 2PM at Chamber office. Food to be for sale. Include Elmore Store. Feb. 17th Plunge sign in and turn in money at River Arts. Munchies and Music!

GMTCC: future discussion: how Rotarians can be involved?  Be on Advisory Board(s)?

December 7, 2011 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was held at noon at the Stonegrill Pub in Morrisville. Members present: Jason McArthur, Cindy Locke, Sherry Lussier, Phil Chiaravalle, Rich Jacobs, Mary Metcalf, Mark Sinow, Marcia Marble, Roy Marble, Marci Henderson, Deanna Wood, Tricia Follert, Sharon Menard, Tim Sargent and Gary Nolan.

Guests: Nancy Sinow and Stowe Rotarian, Reid Williams.

Happy Dollars: Mark, Tim, Gary, Mary, Cindy, Sharon, Tricia, Jason, Deanna, and Marcia.

Sad Dollars: Jason shared that Chuck and Tricia Hogan’s youngest son has medical concerns.

Marci got bit and sprayed by a skunk in her home last week and is taking the rabies shot series.

Fines: Tim fined Roy for outbidding him for the Raffled top soil at last week’s Holiday Party. Tim lost and paid his $1.00 fine.

Jason fined Tim for Gary sitting off by himself. 2nd by Roy. Jason lost and Tim spun the wheel. Jason to pay $2.00 fine instead of two minute speech on Foundation.

Tricia tried to fine Cindy. Cindy is exempt as the Sargent at Arms.

Holiday Party: Jason reported that we netted $1200+/-. Raffle  brought in $500.  He understood that all were pleased and all went smoothly. FUTURE:  attendees should RSVP as Jason had only 29 confirmed and 42 meals were served. He had told the restaurant to expect 40. Cost was $35/person: $1420 (??$1470)  plus cash bar.

Miki: Ted asked Jason to share that drivers are needed to take/return Miki from an Exchange Student event in Wolfsboro, NH this weekend.  Please call Ted.

Polar Splash:  Cindy-next meeting is December 12 at 2 pm at the Chamber office.  Jumpers’ application will be on the Morrisville Rotary website.  Consider challenging other Rotary clubs to participate.  Committee is Cindy, Becky, Tim. Others are welcome.

GMTCC: Jason noted that a donation of $100.00 to pay for our meal last week is in order. 2nd by Tim.  VOTE: in favor.

Budget: Jason shared the December Treasurer’s Report with those present. Discussion to add GMTCC to our local high school college scholarship fund ($500.00). Jason’s motion was seconded by Mary. VOTE: in favor.   Marcia asked if we have a formal scholarship application process. There is none at this time other than speaking to the school guidance office for them to choice a student from the top 10% and a student who is active in the community.

RAFFLE:  was won by Jason who drew a joker.  WINNING CARD is queen of spades.
