Guest Speaker; Nella Wennberg is a Physician Assistant with Mansfield Orthopedics. Three weeks after the Haiti Earthquake, she accompanied a medical team from the Fletcher Allen Medical Center to a medical facility on the Haiti/Dominican Republic border for two weeks of 12 hour days in the operating room in 95 degree weather. She met incredible folks from Haiti as well as from around the world who had come to help.
Thru a DVD, Nella shared a view of the people and conditions that they shared with the Haitians. Power was apt to be undependable so they used head lamps in the five operating rooms. 25 translators helped them do their medical rounds in three hour sessions. Sue Lucas a Copley Hospital Intensive Care nurse is in Haiti now.
Nella does hope to return and continue the medical care needed in Haiti.
The 50/50 ticket was drawn. Tim had the raffle ticket but did not draw the 4 of diamonds.
